Planting goes vertical
A headline commission at 2023’s National Festival of Making the ‘Plant it Up’ installation was a showcase of hydroponic plant cultivation using vertical grow towers.
The physical installation created a sheltered, initimate and inspiring space for audience members to sit and relax surrounded by edible crops which they were invited to identify and harvest.
The concept was to introduce this alternative cultivation method to a different audience, and as an introduction to then welcome the conversation around growing your own, with online materials provided to encourage participants to ‘make their own’ mini hydroponic system.
